Ep 127: The 5 Pillars of Self-Care
May 26, 2020
Today we’re talking about self-care. Many people neglect their own self-care because they misunderstand it to be selfish, so we want to take the opportunity to shift your mindset.
If we neglect our own needs, we risk deep levels of unhappiness, low self-esteem, resentment, overwhelm and burn out.
Self-care makes you more effective + capable in your life. When you feel taken care of, there is an immeasurable, positive effect on those around you.
When you show up for yourself, you can then show up for others. When you take care of you, you are better able to take care of the people you love.
We are particularly interested in helping you build self-care strategies because we know that feeling more confident with food and your body starts by shifting from how you look to how you feel.
Self-care feels good. It builds a more positive body image, makes us less susceptible to stress and anxiety, improves immunity, increases positive thinking, and leads to patience and compassion for yourself and others.
We get that self-care will look different for everyone. There are seasons to life, but self-care can be a part of each.
To identify what your self-care would look like, ask yourself this question:
What are things I do that, when done consistently, allow me to feel more confident and capable in my life?
That’s your self-care.
The opposite question might be helpful too:
What are things I do that make me feel less confident or capable in my life?
In today’s episode, we’re giving you the 5 pillars of self-care and helping you see how essential self-care is in becoming more confident with food + your body.
